Chain Vault
Catenary vaults are self-supporting clay structures shaped like an inverted catenary. This special geometry determines the fixed dimensions of the vaults. The room width can be selected between 3.50 m (Estandar) and 4.25 m (Grande).
Hobbit series
The name "Hobbit" for these buildings seems obvious. The characteristic plant roof, combined with round windows and built-in natural stone, gives the houses their fairytale-like appearance. The Casa Hobbit is the most commonly built house model in Valle Tucan and is available for purchase in various versions.
Casa Hobbit
- Room / 1
- Living space / 85 m²
- Construction period / 12 months
You enter the house through a glass door and come directly into the kitchen, which features countertops on both sides. The tiled floors are framed by a natural stone base. A door from the living area leads to the covered terrace. The Hobbit room is 3.50 m wide, and the length of the vaulted ceilings can be customized.
Casa Doble Hobbit
- Room / 3
- Living space / 121 m²
- Construction period / 14 months
In this design, two hobbit houses merge into one impressive building with a central space made of clay brick, approximately 20 meters long and 3.7 meters high. Rustic natural stone facades, round windows, and a green roof characterize the house's appearance.
Renate & Karsten move into their double Hobbit in Valle Tucán. In conversation with Ralf, Karsten talks about the construction work, the mud bricks and mud plaster, the indoor climate, and living under the cross vault. Other topics the two discuss include encounters with howler monkeys, the quality of the water supply, and shopping options around our neighborhood.
BóVEDA series
The "Bovedas" series comprises a series of parallel vaults, each encased in a dense layer of vegetation. These vaults are connected by passageways carefully constructed with natural stone. The length of these structures is flexible and can be adjusted as needed. You can also choose between a vault width of 3.50 m or 4.25 m.
MIXED ROOFS
The chain vault can also be combined with other roof types. One example is the Casa Kara, which features a central chain vault made of clay bricks and is complemented by sloping roof surfaces on both sides.
